Does your pool actually need one?
In NSW, any swimming pool or spa with a water capacity of 40,000 litres or more needs a BASIX certificate before your DA or CDC can be determined. Most standard family pools sit comfortably over that line.
An 8 metre by 4 metre pool at an average depth of 1.5 metres holds roughly 48,000 litres, so a typical backyard build is caught. It applies to in-ground pools, above-ground pools and spas alike once the volume is there.
If your pool is genuinely under 40,000 litres you generally do not need one, and we will tell you that rather than sell you one.
Work out your volume
Rectangular pool, in litres:
Example: 8m × 4m × 1.5m × 1,000 = 48,000 litres
Average depth: shallow end plus deep end, divided by two.
Freeform shapes: take the surface area off the plan, multiply by average depth, then by 1,000.
What we check, and what we fix
A pool is assessed against two BASIX targets. Here is what actually moves the numbers, and what we change if you come up short.
Water
The volume of the pool and whether it has a cover. A cover is the single most effective change available, because it cuts evaporation, and it is usually the first thing we look at when the water target falls short.

Energy
How the pool is heated, whether that is gas, electric, a heat pump, solar or not heated at all, along with the equipment that runs with it. Heating choice is what moves the energy number most.

What $119 actually buys
- A registered BASIX certificate, issued under the NSW scheme and ready to attach to your DA or CDC
- The $33 NSW Government registration fee, included rather than billed on top
- A tax invoice from AustechHub Pty Ltd with the GST shown separately
- The targets resolved for you. If you fall short we show you the change that fixes it
- One free revision within 60 days if your design changes
- Assessment within two business hours, Monday to Friday
No quote form, no callback to find out the price, no second invoice.

How it works
Three steps, and only the first one is yours.
1. Tell us about the project
Five minutes on the form above. We prompt you for anything missing, so you do not need every number to hand before you start.
2. We assess and resolve
Within two business hours we check it against the BASIX targets. If something falls short we come back with the change that fixes it and finalise a certificate you can build to.
3. Registered and emailed
Your certificate is registered with the scheme and emailed the same business day, ready to attach to your DA or CDC.
Ready to start?

What it costs, and the honest version
$119 covers everything: the assessment, resolving the targets, registering the certificate and the $33 government fee. GST is added at checkout, making it $130.90 all up.
You can also do it yourself. The NSW BASIX tool is public and the registration fee is around $33. If you have the details on hand, understand what the targets are asking for, and have time to work through the changes when the project falls short, that is a genuine option and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
What you are paying us for is the rest of it: knowing which change gets you over the line without blowing the budget, doing it inside two business hours instead of across an evening, and carrying the revision if the design shifts later.
What it costs to not have one
Your DA or CDC cannot be determined without a BASIX certificate. The application sits, or comes back to you, and everything behind it moves right. On a job with trades booked, a week lost at lodgement is expensive.
The second failure point is at the end. The commitments on the certificate are checked at final inspection, so what you build has to match what was certified. That is a bad surprise to get when you are trying to close the job out.

Common questions
Which pools and spas need a certificate?
Any swimming pool or spa with a water capacity of 40,000 litres or more, before you can lodge your DA or CDC. Most standard family pools are well over this.
Is the $33 government fee included?
Yes. The $33 NSW Government registration fee is inside the $119. GST is added at checkout, so the total you pay is $130.90. There is nothing else on top.
How fast will I actually get it?
Assessed within two business hours and emailed the same business day when you order by 3pm (Sydney), Monday to Friday. After 3pm or on a weekend it is first thing the next business day. If you paid before 3pm on a weekday, gave us complete information and we miss same-day delivery for reasons within our control, you choose a refund or 50% off the service price.
What if I do not know my pool volume?
Start with the dimensions or your best estimate. We work it out and confirm it against your plans before anything is issued.
What if my pool does not meet the targets?
We fix it within the assessment, usually with a cover or a change to the heating, and issue a certificate you can build to. You are not sent away to solve it yourself.
What if my details change later?
You get one free revision within 60 days, for the same project and property. Any additional government fee is passed on. The commitments are checked at final inspection, so it matters that the certificate keeps matching your build.
How long is the certificate valid?
A BASIX certificate needs to be submitted with your DA or CDC within three months of its date of issue.
Do I need one for a small plunge pool or spa?
Only if it holds 40,000 litres or more. Plenty of plunge pools and spas sit under that. Tell us the volume and you will get a straight answer.
Can I just do it myself?
You can. The NSW BASIX tool is public and the fee is around $33. It asks for details most people do not have on hand and expects you to meet the targets yourself. We do that part for you and have it back the same business day.
Do you cover all of NSW?
Yes. Certificates are prepared and emailed, so wherever your project is in New South Wales we can help.
